Teacher Truth #14: Holiday break is a Time Vortex
December, the month where time drags on and three weeks of school feels like an eternity that never ends. Then, blink once and winter break has passed and you are left hoping for a snow day, wishing for just one more day of comfort. There are times throughout the month that time feels like it has truly stopped and then days you don’t even remember somewhere around New Year’s.
Perhaps it is the winter solstice and the sunlight time truly playing tricks with my mind. I wonder what other teachers do or say for the holidays – especially those with kids. Is it more relaxing than work? Are there times you can do what you want to do? So many questions running through my head about the future, my classic move of forgetting about the present.
